Marketing is about getting the right message to the right people in the right place. This section is about identifying the right places for your avatar.

There has never been a time in history when your target customer is more accessible than they are today. But you may not have thought about how to find them.

The most effective way to find them is to work out where they get their information from. Even better is to discover where they go with questions when they get stuck.

Look for sources of information which relate directly to the work/industry they serve. Ideally look for places where they add comments such as reviews or ask questions such as forums, groups and meetups.

To help you brainstorm this use the following list as a prompt.

  • Books
  • Magazines
  • Blogs
  • Conferences
  • Trade shows
  • Guru's
  • Social media platforms
  • Podcasts
  • Radio stations
  • Newspapers
  • Forums

This information will help you decide the best places to place your ads for the greatest exposure to the right people.

A useful trigger sentence for this process is: "My ideal customer would read/attend .... but no one else would."
